Breeding Hate, Not Chickens?

You must be living under a rock to know that something strange isn’t going on with Chick-Fil-A and the LGBT community.  Today hundreds of thousands flooded the doors of restaurants nation wide in support of a company that operates based on biblical values.  I eat Chick-Fil-A like its going out of style when I’m near one geographically, and LOVE their food.  So my question about this hot button topic is: In the midst of getting caught up in all of the latest social media craze, how do your comments and opinions effect the people you call your friends? Why are people disrespectful and rude on  the internet but not in real life?  How do you post stuff about hating gays, alcoholics, those who commit adultery, carry concealed handguns, or rights for minority groups of people, then go to work, school, or family gatherings with the very people you offend on Facebook.  I am the chief among the offenders in this region.  Some days I write such stupid things I feel like I should delete my social media accounts.  Please think about what you’re writing, who is going to read it, and how ignorant you look when you project hate in response to hate.  After all aren’t we supposed to be about one love?

An update on G3.  Things are going crazy fast and amazing.  We had a preview service this weekend at the school and that time in production and our gathering made everything become real, very fast.  We’re chaining up a few things around here in preparation for our grand opening on September 16. I ask for money all the time, because we need money to compete in today’s advertising market for the attention of people who are far from God.  We need money to buy equipment, diapers, rocking chairs, bibles, lights, microphones, communion bread, table clothes, signs, coffee beans, cables, crayons, cups, toys, fruit loops, the list goes on and on.  We also need money to pay my salary (i’m at about 66% raised monthly).  We also need money to pay for extravagant things that need to happen to introduce the community of Richmond to God’s love in a real way.  We need to have a free oil change program for single moms, support a backpack program to help students at Test Middle School (where we meet on weekends), develop a relationship with local non-profits that are making a difference in the city, meet immediate needs of people who are far from God, provide service to neighborhoods, have block parties, and other things that we will do to help redefine church and transform lives.  We need the same thing everyone else needs, money.

I know most of you that read this are long-term supporters and for that I say thank you.  Here is how you can help.  Talk to everyone you know about this thing that you’re supporting in Richmond, Indiana called G3.  Really, everyone you know.  Tell them why you’re sending us money and investing in what God is doing through us together in this community.  Then ask them to send me a check, or online credit card payment of some amount of money.  It doesn’t have to be long term, it doesn’t have to be a huge amount.  But together we can further the reach of whats going on here and help us meet some financial goals going into launch.  One of the things we say every time we get together is that we aren’t interested in the money of people who don’t know God.  Thats true, and it always will be.  But that means outside support is even more needed.  So this week, ask everyone you know to send me a check.  You won’t regret it.  Image

3 for Me, 2 For You

If you’ve ever played the game “kings”, the title of this post makes much more sense.  One of the areas I’ll be involved in at G3 is guest services.  Since we’re a new church, most everyone who comes will be a “guest” at first.  We want to create an over the top experience for our guests.  This means some of the approaches from the way churches have “always done things” will change.  We’ll teach a message straight from the bible, and that will never change, but one thing that will change is our gifts.  We’ve strayed away from the coffee cup talking of “holy grounds” and landed on this pint glass.

Want one in your kitchen?  I can help.  All you have to do is head over to our online giving system and you can buy two.  The cost is minimal, but here is where the title comes in.  When you buy two pint glasses for yourself, you’re also buying three pint glasses for us at G3 to use in our gifting here in Richmond.  So two for you, three for me.  Get it?
